NOTE FOR TEACHERS AND FACILITATORS
We are pleased that you are reviewing this educational resource. This website is intended to increase your student’s awareness and interests in the field of manufacturing and all the careers it represents. As Florida’s Advanced Technological Center, a National Science Foundation sponsored project, we are charged to focus on manufacturing education in our state. We welcome you to take advantage of our services and resources.

Note From Dr. Marilyn Barger:
I would like to call your attention to the new NSF ATE website, www.TeachingTechnicians.org, which is funded by the National Science Foundation, DUE #0602710.
I encourage you to create a user account so that a special feature of the site is activated that automatically notifies you of professional development events that are of personal interest. In conjunction with this new web-based resource, FLATE is offering six $500 stipends to attend a workshop listed on TT this summer (before the start of the fall 08 academic semester).
To be eligible for one of these professional development stipends, (1) you must be a community college faculty or high school technical program teacher in Florida, (2) teach in a discipline related to or supporting manufacturing, and (3) supply a short statement about how the event will benefit you and your students, and how you will share the materials and information you get from the workshop with other Florida educators.
Email me this information directly along with your name, your supervisor and his/her contact info, and which workshop you want to attend before April 18. Please share this invitation with high school programs in your area that you work closely with.
We have prepared materials to help you bring modern manufacturing into your classroom:
FLATE has created a WebCT page with educational modules for the educator. Each module contains an abstract, presentation guidelines, a PowerPoint presentation, and other supporting resources.
To access the modules and expand your student's awareness of the world of modern manufacturing today, contact Jody Sutton, Curriculum Coordinator at 813-259-6575 or at curriculum@fl-ate.org to get a free WebCT username and password, then follow this link to access the resources: http://webct.hccfl.edu/ |
We have prepared some PDFs that you may want to use:
Postsecondary Pathways

Community Colleges around Florida are now offering the new Engineering Technology degree program. This ET Degree covers core skills aligned with the national MSSC Production Technician Certification and advanced specializations designed for today's high performance manufacturing
Where can I find out more?
There are many great web based resources on the FLATE outreach web page and on the Made in Florida Links page.

FAQ
Many large websites have a FAQ page where people are sent to get answers or further information about a product. After scrolling through 20 or so questions that really don’t match your inquiry, most probably give up and start looking for a contact number.
Being that this site is constantly evolving and we don’t know what people will ask most frequently, there is no annoying list, just who to contact with your questions.
Some possible topics might be: Where do I get a copy of the “Made in Florida” dvd?,
How do I get a ‘Student Industry Tour’ started? or Where do I find the answer sheets to the ‘Challenge’ scenarios?
Give me a call at 813.259.6581 or email me at gula@fl-ate.org.
